Roy G. Baggett, USAF, Retired

  MHS  Class of 1955

Roy enlisted in the USAF, in 1955, after high school. Following basic and technical training, he served at a variety of duty stations including: Japan, Bermuda and Labrador. At the end of his four-year enlistment, he was honorably discharged at Barksdale AFB, LA., and continued to serve in the USAF Reserves.

Next stop was La Tech, where he earned a B.A, and taught high school English for three years in Lake Charles, LA.

In 1967, he returned to active duty and accepted a commission--first duty station, after training, was Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, NV. From 1970 to 1971, he served one year at Tan Son Nhut AB, Viet Nam and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service. Subsequently, Roy served in a number of staff positions at major air command headquarters--Tactical Air Command at Langley AFB, VA... Alaskan Air Command, at Anchorage, AK.
Later, he served in squadron and group command positions, before retiring in 1987, completing his military service which spanned 32 years.
After retiring from the USAF, he taught English at North Central Texas College, until his second retirement in 2000


1987 retirement Currently--2015--Roy is living near Blue Ridge, Texas, with his wife, Mary, a career Texas Educator, who served as a District Superintendent before her retirement in 2005
